Flowering Crabapple (Malus Sargenti)

Flowering crabapples are one of the best flowering trees for bonsai. They produce beautiful +” white, fragrant flowers covering the entire tree in early spring before the foliage appears. The foliage is really small and lobed. Little green pomes (apples) appear in summer, derived from the enlargement of the entire flower receptacle which becomes fleshy. The fruit ripens to all different colors in the fall when the foliage begins to turn to shades of yellow, orange and red. Mayhaw

The Mayhaw tree, Crataegus aestivalis, is a slow-growing native North American tree that reaches a height of 30 feet with a rounded canopy that spreads to 35 feet or more. The sparkling white, showy springtime flowers appear before the new leaves unfurl and are followed by the production of large, red-dotted fruits. Although the tree is naturally found in wet, shady sites, it is well adapted to drier, better-drained land and produces more and better fruit in full sunlight.

The Winesap apple is an old apple variety. It is still one of the leading strains being grown in the US. Winesap apples are good for eating, juice, and baking. Juicy and tart, the Winesap apple has a crisp, yellowish flesh covered with a deep red skin. This all-purpose apple has good keeping qualities.The fruit is good sized. The Trident Maple tree, Acer Buergerianum, is a deciduous, 20-30 foot-high by 25-foot-wide tree in the wild.
