Eastern Redbud

The Red Bud tree, Cercis Canadensis, is also known as the eastern red bud, and sometimes referred to as the Judas tree because it dates back to biblical times. It is a small deciduous tree that displays an abundance of purple blossoms in the spring. It has large heart shaped leaves during the summer, and long seedpods in the fall. It has low water requirements and displays a high tolerance to salt and alkali soils. Does well in many soil types, except permanently wet soils. The seed pods attract wildlife.

Tree Sculpture (10″ x 13″) – Upright Blue

This one-of-a-kind tree sculpture is created by prominent artist Sal Villano and is fashioned with wire gages ranging from 32 to 18. The wire used is bronze anodized aluminum wire which will retain its color and strength for many years. This is the same wire that we use for training bonsai. The tree sculpture is bonded onto its base, which is a glazed ceramic bonsai pot, using sea sand. Since the bond is made onto a porous material, a water soluble glue is used and, therefore, the sculpture should never be placed in a dishwasher. Also known as Larix Kaempferi. The very beautiful Larch is an unusual genus, one of the handful of deciduous conifers which is very popular among bonsai enthusiasts around the world. Unlike many conifers Larix cones are purplish in color, small and seem in proportion to most size bonsai. Also known as sacred bamboo and is related to the barberry. This tough as nails evergreen has fine lacy foliage which turns bronze and red in winter. It has unbranched reed-like stems.
