Gunnera - Great
The Great Gunnera, ‘Gunnera manicata’, is a plant with enormous proportions. Grows to 10′ tall and 10′ wide after a couple of years. Best grown solitary near a pond or stream, and in deep moist soils. Has massive pannicles hidden below the gorgeous foliage. It is an enormous plant usually seen at the water-side or in wet soil. Bold, rich green leaves grow amazingly fast. Needs protection against frost, preferably with mulch of their own foliage. It likes cool weather with full sun and lots of water. Great Gunnera makes a dramatic statement and is an exotic, stunning perennial.
